Peripheral Nerve Stimulation
StimRouter is a new type of stimulator that TCPC has adopted as a treatment option for patients suffering from chronic pain. For the first time our patients suffering from peripheral nerve pain can now be treated with a stimulator! Resulting in sufficient, long-term pain coverage with less side effects than other treatment options.
Here’s how it works: A thin highly flexible lead is placed near the target peripheral nerve. The procedure is minimally invasive, uses only local anesthesia and is often completed in less than 30 minutes. The small wearable (external) power source communicates with the lead wirelessly, sending a low level electrical field directly to the nerve inside the body; which interrupts the nerve’s pain signal. Stimulation is controlled by the patient themselves using a small wireless handheld controller. The result: A dramatic change in patient’s day-to-day life and overall improved quality of life!
Examples of peripheral nerve pain applicable to StimRouter:
Post-surgery pain (knee, back, etc.)
Post-stroke shoulder pain
Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)
Neuralgia (excluding cranial facial
